False positive? |
if you are having a baby can you get a false postive on a HIV testr? Yes, the hormones and other proteins in the blood during pregnancy can occasionally make the screening test for HIV (the ELISA) react positive when you don't in fact have HIV. If this happens then they need to do a second test, the Western Blot, to check if HIV is really there or not. Usually this has to be done twice to be certain. It is always posible to have a false positive. Anyone who tests positive will be given a second HIV test to be sure. oh crap. i really dont know. i dont think its likely i dont see why you would have a false positive. During pregnancy you are more likely to get a false positve for syphilis than you are for HIV. HIV is always confirmed with a western blot test before final results are given. |
