Is it possible for an HIV+woman and a HIV- man to make a baby? |
my friend is positive and married to a negative man, they use protection, would like to have a baby of their own,any idea please? Yes she can become pregnant and have a healthy baby too. HIV/Aids is contracted blood to blood. If your friend does get pregnant breast feeding is not a good idea and chances are her husband may develop HIV/Aids without protection. They're best solution is to consult with her HIV doctor. it is possible.. BUT they would need medical advice in how to reduce the risk of the child being affected, IVF with his sperm so he does not risk catching HIV from her.. She'd need to take medication before and during pregnancy (to prevent HIV passing to the baby)and NOT breast feed.. still though it's a bg risk and probably not worth risking a childs life if they have sex without a condom, he will run the risk of getting HIV. so the best and safest for him would be do it in a cup and have the DR put it in her. however since mom has HIV there is a high chance the baby will get it too. it sounds impossible to me. hiv is in her bloodstream. the baby will share her blood. this is something that they need to discuss with their doctor. They can have a baby but HIV will end up being transmitted to the partner and possibly to the baby. |
