Does anyone know the most recent official number of AIDS patients worldwide. I need the cite too.?

I've looked at the cdc page and who and can't find a simple world-wide estimation at this time (November 2007). I'm writing a paper and need at least an approximate number of patients who are HIV positive at this time. I'll need to cite the reference. Anyone? Please.

Not sure from 2007, it said and I Quote "As of early 2007, there are no more recent international estimates"... BUT....

Worldwide, 40 million people are living with HIV/AIDS, and 3.3 million died from AIDS during 2001, including 1.1 million women and 580,000 children under age 15. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the cumulative number of AIDS cases reported is 816,149, including 141,048 in females and 9,074 in children under age 13. Total deaths in persons with AIDS are 467,910, including 5,257 in children under age 15.

(AP) -- The number of AIDS cases worldwide fell by more than 6 million cases this year to 33.2 million, global health officials said Tuesday. But the decline is mostly on paper.
Previous estimates were largely inflated, and the new numbers are the result of a new methodology. They show AIDS cases in 2007 were down from almost 39.5 million last year, according to the World Health Organization and the United Nations AIDS agency.
