How many people with AIDS in the US are over the age of 50?

What is the population of people over the age of 50 in the US who are HIV positive?

The 2005 figure for people over 50 with HIV was 115,871.

http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/topics/surveillan...

However this was only for 33 states with confidential name based reporting, and doesn't include figures from states like California and Pennsylvania. When you add in those states and also those who have not been tested the true figure would be closer to 150,000.

The numbers living with AIDS are hard to derive from the CDC figures. The CDC lists AIDS diagnosis in each given year, but you would need to add people diagnosed in previous years who are still living to get an accurate figure.

Nearly four times as many people with so called 'AIDS' are over 60 as compared to teenagers with a mere 476 cases in 2005. Cases in people over 50 represent (at 4,000 cases in 2005) over EIGHT TIMES MORE THAN TEENAGERS.

Cumulative 'AIDS' figures in Canada

What is interesting is that there have only been 65 teenage cases since 1983 in Canada. Also the the 20 to 25 age group is very low too.

This is similar to the U.S. and does not fit an std.

Like America, people over 60 have as much 'AIDS'
(611 cases) as both teenagers AND 20-24 years olds combined (65 teen cases and 573 cases in the 20-24 group).

Seems once again Grannies are going wild!

In 2005 the TOTAL CASES were just 2,515 in all of Canada. That is about half the infection rate per capita compared to America. How could an std (if HIV is such) stop at an open border to that extent?

If 'AIDS' is really poverty not sex based it would make perfect sense. People living below the povery line in Canada are about half that of America

JUST CDC FIGURES

Caucasians made up 40.6% of all US cases in 2006

Of those 16.0% were heterosexuals

That means just 6.4% of all cases were Caucasian Heterosexuals.

Of those 18.567% were female or about 1% of the total.

I am not surprised that there are more people over the age of 50 with AIDS as opposed to teenagers. It seems the longer you are on this Earth the more likely you will have every type of virus as you get older. There are no cures and no one's talking about the diseases that are out there...so how can you really prevent it?

Good question.
