Well - it seems they WON'T accept my gay brother's bone marrow.? |
This is just WRONG! This is from marrow.org. Just because he's gay, they won't accept his bone marrow even if he is a match to save my other brother who has leukemia because he's "at risk for AIDS". And I have rheumatoid arthritis and lupus but when I asked my Doctor about donating bone marrow he seemed to have no problem with it. I just got off the phone with him. That's wrong! It is a bit stupid. But it is also true that AIDS is more prevalent in the gay community. Though its also more prevalent in the black community, should we refuse their marrow? I think not. That is kind of stupid. Every person who is sexually active is at risk for AIDS. welcome to planet earth and especially the USA with a heath care rating of 42! that is absolutely horrible as long as he actually doesn't have AIDS there shouldn't be a problem, that's just wrong yeah.. have they even tested him? just for their own proof? I don't know much about this, but can't they test him to see if he has aids? Then surely they will know whether it is ok to go ahead with the bone marrow transplant or not. I mean we can do tests to check if someone has it or not and if he hasn't there shouldn't be a problem You can easily change their minds with $100-200 us dollars to a lawyer to make a phone call to them about the law suit (on Discrimination) that will soon begin against their hospital if they deny they gay brother from offering bone marrow. Trust me...it will work. You probably wont have to really make a suit but if you want to, many lawyers in the phone book would do it for free unless they win then they take a percentage of course. well first that doctor needs to be sued for malpractice, and second he needs to have his license revoked. I think you should write to your local newspaper about this and let them investigate into it, because this is just ridiculous! With family this is a total load of crap. The medical rationales are also very bigoted, but in terms of family and life and death decisions, they should ignore their bigoted rules Call a lawyer. This is discrimination. Tell the hospital your going to call a lawyer and ask them to reconsider. They may back down. Honestly, as another person said, "anyone who has sex is at risk for aids." This doesn't make any sense anyway. You either have HIV or AIDS or you don't. Also don't sign anything with out talking to a lawyer from here on out. Especially don't sign ANY waivers. Also what about you ? Are you a match or have you been tested ? They are the doctors they know best. |
