How can we allow Jacob Zuma to become president of SA?

I admit I don't know much about him, but what I have read has shocked me.

He has sex with a HIV positive woman with using a condom, only taking a shower afterwards to reduce the risk!! This is while being the head of the national AIDS council!?

Its not just the above. He don't seem to the kind of person that should run a country. Just wanted to hear views and opinions on him.

Not people stating the obvious.

This is the reason Apartheid was invented. The white South Africans (both Afrikaner and British) believed that putting blacks in charge would ruin the country, as they would not be able to do it properly.

This is the sort of thing that fuels that argument. The white extremists still left in South Africa will be delighted if Mr Zuma is voted in, as they will then be able to say: "told you so!"

Sadly, electorates all over the world are fooled by their politicians. And, because we believe in democracy, we have to let countries make their own mistakes.

Look at all the Hoo-ha over getting rid of Saddam Hussein.

Sadly, we will have to allow this man to become president of the RSA, if he is voted in, and hope that he dosn't turn out to be another Robert Mugabe, ruining a beautiful country.

Oh, and please note, I am not condoning apartheid. I am merely using it to illustrate a point.

We cannot stop it if it is the wish of the South African people.

Not really up to us to interfere with the politics of another sovereign state. There's been WAY too much of that going on in the last few years. If they are too stupid to see through the man -.......

Not to mention being cleared of rape on a technicality or on-going corruption charges!

South Africa is in danger of becoming another Sub Saharan dictatorship!

Mind you if De Beers think that it will harm their diamond empire they may do something about it!

We cannot and should not seek to interfere. It is each country's right to choose its own leader.
If we are looking for uncorrupt Government, should we not start at home? We have an unelected leader, an incompetent and sleazy Government and an overpowerful Media baron, Murdoch pulling strings. Not in much of a position to preach to others, methinks.

Archbishop Tutu raised a similar point, as did a S.Afican poster last week. If anyone has influence maybe it's the church. Tutu's voice once carried weight, hopefully it still does.
