I am 17 years old and I am wondering how can me or my mother receive the back child support that is owed to us by my father. He is HIV positive, so he is on disability, but I found out that he was receiving an $800.00 check every two weeks, and he has been lying about who his caregivers are and he puts the checks in their names, so that they can cash the checks for him and he keeps the money. I know that that's illegal, but since he has this money what can we do to get the back child support that is owed to us? He lives in California and we live in Texas. I was wondering if anyone could help me, and tell me what I need to do legally to make him pay for all of the child support he owes, and expose his criminal behavior. I honestly feel bad that I have to do this, but he hasn't taken care of any of his children since we were all born. cases like these are popping up all over the US, and WINNING too.
they can attach his disability check, and you can also report him to the IRS, his states Disability Dept, etc.
do it in writing, via FAX ONLY. mail ends up in someones 'to do pile', phone calls are useless, but FAXING is effective... its proof it was sent and proof recieved, thus, they HAVE to address it.
