Why do people assume homosexuals have more STDs than heterosexuals?

-There's no logical reason for that to be true.
-If it is true, it's pure coincidence.

I just don't understand this. It annoys me because people think that just because you're gay, you MUST be HIV positive. Just like people assume if you're atheist, you MUST be a terrible person.

WHY?!

The ignorance of people unwilling to learn- Is my best bet. I really can't say. I had to do extensive study on it in my highschool Life Managment class, but as you know, the teacher was a freak and I don't take anything I hear to be true unless I know for a fact from credible sources.- The people speaking were from Planned Parenthood, which, I'm not pro-life, of course, but Planned Parenthood was originally a group established to control the population of minorities- So I don't value their opinion greatly.

Anway, the studies I did, all pointed that they do infact have a higher population of HIV positive (or STD positive) people, in general. This is what they SAID- I however, did not ever get an explanation as to WHY. Why is that logical? Coincidence? It would have to be. Gay people don't breed AIDS.

You are correct--there is no logical reason. I am an atheist who attends a Catholic high school, and some people found that I am an atheist (it's really quite obvious). By the end of the day, people were giving me a ton of crap that I am going to hell because I do not believe there is a god. It is ridiculous.

Everyone is ignorant. They need education, but I'm afraid they may be beyond our help.

I have heard statistics that AIDS/HIV has a high infection rate among homosexual men --- not just in America, but in Africa, too. I think people take this statistic and apply it to all homosexuals. Its not fair and not right. Its another lame stereotype.

I'm straight, and I only have 3 STDs, one of each: one stereo, one television, and one DVD player.

Oh, wait, you meant the other kind of STD. People are ignorant, you just have to sigh and deal with it.

Try it for yourself. Just go up to some random person and be like "did you know that...." and you'll see.

For HIV...it is linked to homosexuals because of the origin of it being a predominately gay disease in the early 80's. Most people are educated enough now to know that it is an equal opportunity virus...everyone should be cautious. As for stereotypes of homosexuals, some truth exists. There is always some truth to stereotypes of anyone, seeing past them is intelligence.

Don't give up hope. There are informed people out there. I promise! I try my best to be as open minded, accepting and informed as possible. I can assure you I believe that homosexuality is something people are born with so I don't judge you in the least. Some people believe homosexuals have more STDs as a punishment from God. :( These people are ignorant, and need a reality check.

It is not an assumption there are statistics that "give us that idea" and they are regularly posted and preached by the people trying to educate U.

Remember one thing Jesus loves you if you are a queer or not. But most queers don't want anything to do with a God who has a bible that puts down homosexuality. And that is the reason U think we all think U are atheist.

I tell many people this: do anything U want to, as long as U pursue a realationship with Jesus while U are in the mist of all your other doings.
