Please Help!!!! I am trying to find Health Insurance for my partner..?

My partner is HIV positive. He needs health insurance. Money is really not the issue. Does anyone know where I can find an insurance company that would insure him?

It's most unfortunate, but being HIV antibody positive you are sure to get insurance, but it will have exclusions/riders not covering that illness or anything to such degree or related. Unless they have a policy through an employer then it would be covered.

A few of the insurance companies are working to create policies for HIV antibody carriers but it is not actually in progress yet, just under discussion/thought.

Your friend is, however, qualified to receive Medicaid being that they have tested positive and there are relatively no insurance companies that will accept new carriers who have not been covered by them prior to being tested/found positive.

It is your best bet to go to your local Health and Human Services Department and request application for Medicaid. They do have a specific question your friend will answer yes to and being an HIV antibody carrier, no matter how much money you both have, they will still qualify. Medicaid will cover 100% of any hospitalizations/medications/treatments/... and so on that can/will become very expensive. Good luck and best of health to your friend.

Where do you live? There are usually government assistant programs available for people with HIV.

Laws may very from state to state but every health insurance company is required by law to have one month where there is open enrollment for anyone. The problem is they only advertise deep in the sections of the paper that no one reads in fairly small print. Contact each of the major carriers in your area. You should also contact your state department of insurance for the rules of your state.

HIV positive patients are often times eligible for Medicaid so check with your local health department. You might as well put your tax dollars to a worth cause.
