Would you sell your breastmilk? |
Bizarrely someone on the internet has-拢1 per ounce. Yes a lot of hospitals ask for mothers to donate their breast milk-but they are screened before hand and the milk is provided in clean sterile conditions. The worrying thing is this mother allegedly from Acton was selling her milk from a website and without any knowledge of her health etc.Doctors say that hepatitis and HIV is found in infected mothers breastmilk-so why would anyone risk that to their fragile baby?In answer to Smartsas comment-no we dont just "trust" doctors when we have organs donated. They are all screened for disease before they can be used!Dont you even know that???Well certainly that is the case in the UK!Thats my fear that people dont know the risks from descisons they make often-worst still when a young child is at risk. That's wrong, especially when there are prem babies who need that milk and organisations where you can donate it. Why doesn't this woman stop being selfish and help some people instead of trying to make a "quick buck". Ick no. Thats gross. Uh, no it's a disgusting idea and I work too hard to produce it!!! And it's a bonding thing.. that's my BABY's milk thank you very much.... know what I mean? it is illegal in the USA. However, gracious women donate their breastmilk. It gets pasturized and shipped to premature babies and babies dieing of AIDS. I think buying it off the internet is wrong. However when I had my daughter I had a lot of excess and was going to donate to Mother's Milk Bank. I stored until my freezer was full and called them to ask them to send me shipping supplies and they said I would have to drive it all the way to Raleigh so I threw it all away. I don't see anything wrong with it as long it is through a legitimate milk bank. I have to thank you for killing my appetite. I just saved some money. Yes, I would sell my breastmilk, same as I would sell my organs, if I were allowed to. How can you know a blood transfusion is clean? You just trust it is because you get it at the doctor don't you? in this world who says it will be bought for babies. True, I find that absolutely disgusting. And to just sell it over the internet, is definetly not within my idea of sterile or normal in any way. I think a better question is "would you buy someone else's breat milk?" In hospitals women give milk for premature babies. Now that is gross, especially buying it from strangers in a world where there are plenty of other options I think, if milk is not possible from the mother and imagine the number being low then, mothers should just face up to not breastfeeding. I would sell my breast milk but I would never buy. You are right, you never know about infections and diseases. However, it was and still is very common to have wet nurses in some places. I couldn't let anyone nurse my baby, though. I'm a human milk donor through our local milk bank, and I also donate privately to a friend who has low supply. She doesn't pay me with anything but her thanks, but I gave her full access to my medical records so she can be confident that she isn't exposing her child to anything. I treat the milk I freeze for her child the same as I treat the milk I freeze for my own child. If somone needed it ~ I would gladly give it for free. Never heard of selling it! My mum and sister both donated theirs to the premature baby unit though! Dear God, you really can sell anything online. yuk, who in their right mind would want to give their kids someone elses breastmilk! Sell, no but donate it to the local hospital, yes. i think its gross. no Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww what are you thinking!!!!!!!!! you cant make money on yourself like that!!!"and a baby only drinks their own mothers breast milk so it would just be pointless! |
