Is My friend at risk?

well my friend(lets call them A)touched there friend(Lets call them B)who is hiv positive A then touched a scab on there ear they dont think it was open but they are worried incase they have caught hiv what is the risk???

I would say pretty much zero...unless B was bleeding and A poked them in their wound and then rubbed the blood into their open scab. If they just held their hand or something and the scab was indeed a scab, they're fine. Feel free to get tested if it makes A feel better.

There isnt much of a risk since the blood from B wasnt inserted inside A's body. But A should take the test to make sure.

Tell friend A not to worry. The risk of them contracting HIV is very slim. In order for this to be a serious issue, Person A would have had to touch Person B in an area where there was an open wound that was bleeding at the time of being touched.

According to the currant data available from the CDC,outlining risk factors contributing to infection from HIV + population, your friend, "A", is not at risk. However, the virus responsible for HIV is extremely mutable, and there is a possibility that the CDC is unaware of a new mutation. If "B" is taking the medication, which are protease inhibitors, there is a strong likelihood that "A" is safe from becoming infected. Most important though is for "A" to go to his local Dept. of Public Health clinic, and consult with them. There is a protocol they use to track HIV, and they are the experts "A" should seek advice from
