Would you date...?

... someone with the opposite HIV status ?

So if you are negative would you go on a date with someone who is HIV positive ? And vice versa ?

Assume all other things are equal... like it's someone you find attractive, available, interested... etc.

Honesty counts.

No one knows the HIV status of another person unless they have seen the evidence of a positive test result or the evidence of a very recent negative result with no sexual contact occuring after the test. If I were you, I would assume that anyone you date is positive, and don't do anything unsafe with anyone. Have you been tested?

If someone told me straight of the bat that they are HIV positive, probably not.

But I fell in deeply in love with this person and they just got the courage to tell me because, I don't know, I kept wondering why they don't want to have sex, I don't know what I would do. Can you have a romantic relationship without sex? And can't you do sexual things without actually putting yourself at risk?

I think I could. The only reason it would matter would be that they will eventually (or possibly currently) need to have more medical attention than a regular person. As far as the sexual part there's ways on doing that without spreading the virus. And if they wanted to have children there's always adoption. Really I don't think HIV isn't the worst illness you could have. When you think about it , the reason it's so bad is that it has little or no effect for such a long time.

Also, If I had Hiv/ AIDS I might not tell the person on the first date but I would be sure to tell them early in the relationship. If they couldn't accept that then I wouldn't want to keep dating them anyhow.

No matter how cool and attractive they are, I wouldn't be able to take it out of my mind. I would constantly be thinking about the facts that they would eventually die from it, and before then would likely pass it on to me, in a sexually active relationship.

I feel bad saying it, but I just couldn't deal with that stuff.

I wouldn't. No matter how small the risk, it's not something I would deliberately expose myself to.

I had to think about this one for awhile. Even though I have in the past, I wouldn't do it again. When someone tells you that they are HIV poz, many times they may be revealing other things about themselves that aren't "pretty"

People that get hiv don't have sexual common sense, they may have contracted it from being dirty s|uts, they may not pay attention to their health, they may have gotten it from tainted blood transfusions, unprotected anal sex, being drug users, and already have a compromised immune system to begin with, etc.

It is not a disease that's easy to catch. To this day I remain HIV negative
