Worried about my friend!! Help!?

My friend recently told me she is worried that she might have HIV. Personally, I think she is overreacting, but I would like to know your opinion. She said that in August the guy she was dating inserted himself in her without protection for about 30 seconds, at which point, she made him pull out. I asked her if he ejaculated, and she said no. Apparently it was just in once and out. Anyway, chances are he's not HIV positive, but she's worried because he has had multiple partners. She's kind of a hypochondriac and has been freaking out for the past few days (I'm not sure why this just suddenly started to worry her). Anyway, what do you think? Is she overreacting?

Pre-ejaculate has a higher concentration of the HIV virus than actual ejaculate (when the guy is HIV+). So, while she's probably overreacting, because it still isn't a lot of fluid, and he probably isn't HIV+ anyway, getting tested now and again in 2 months is a great idea. If it shows up negative at 6 months after the contact she is definitely clean.

Well its been 4 months and the HIV antibody takes 6 weeks-6 months to become detectable so I suggest she go get tested immediately and get tested again in about 3 months or so...good luck:-)

if he has got hiv, this is plenty of time for it to pass to her, the man doesnt need to ejaculate, any tiny trace of his sperm is enough. just let her go get tested, its quick, easy and free. at least her mind will be put to rest. theres no harm in getting a test is there?

GO GET TESTED!!!

If u worry about it that much then u should make it a point to get an exam every six months to a year. Tell ur friend to get herself examined first before she worries herself over nothing. It takes up to 5 years before anything shows up after being exposed to the virus.

She may be overreacting but that does not make her fear go away. Take her to go get tested there is free testing everywhere. Planned Parenthood is a great place. Then in 6 months have her get tested again just to be sure.

HIV/AIDS is spread from blood to blood contact.
How can I tell if I have HIV?
People can find out if they have HIV (the virus that causes AIDS) by getting counseled and tested. Using a sample of blood or fluid from the mouth can show whether people have antibodies to HIV. If the test shows that people have HIV antibodies, it is assumed that they have HIV infection.

How is AIDS spread?
AIDS (a result of HIV infection) is caused by a virus (HIV) that spreads through sex-vaginal, oral, or anal- and blood-to-blood contact with infected people. HIV cannot spread from person to person by casual everyday contact.

Give those facts to your friend and she how she reacts. If she had any vaginal lesions occur when he inserted himself, it still may not be likely if he had no bodily fluids present. Remember both people must have bodily fluids present. It must enter her blood stream for her to get it.

Tell her to go get tested. Its the simplest (and it most cases cheapest) way to get over that kind of worrying. Also, even though condoms aren't 100% effective they can help the worry and stress. Tell her she needs to always make sure he wraps it up.
