Homophobe? We need a word for those of us who don't fear gays.?

Is anybody fluent in Greek? We need a new word to describe those of us that disagree with or don't understand homosexuality. A word for thos of us that don't acutally fear them. The only time I was afraid of a homosexual was when I got into an arguement with one at a bar that he owned and he suggested that we step outside. He was HIV positive...that is why he got so upset over a private conversation I was having. I'd rather not get AIDS from having a bloodbath with someone who is HIV positive.

I had really hoped to avoid a barrage of hate mail from gays by posting it under a general area. For those who think I am a bigot and afraid, you are wrong. No, I don't have gay friends. Yes, I do have a problem with what they do behind closed doors.

They have a name. It's called bigot. Your one of those people that is the most dangerous. You say things to our face like "I don't have a problem with your kind. I have 2 gay friends". Here's a pointer. If you can count how many gay people you know, your a bigot. I also love when you say things like "I don't care what they do, just so they don't do it around me/my family". It all screams bigot. Just do us all a favor and say what you mean. Just say "I hate gays" and you'll feel much better. I know I will because I like knowing who is a equal and who is a bigot.

Homophobia is the fear of homosexuality, not of homosexuals. If you disagree with it is is probally becuase you fear some part of it. Whether it is the corruption of natural order, that those poor people will offend god, or more tangible stuff like have someone peform man-love with you, it is still fear.

But in response to your actual question, "phobe" does not have to mean only "fear of". It is sort of ambiguous in that way. "Fear" is just usually what it is assosiated with and that's why people think the only definition for "phobe" is "fear."
