Is it harder for females to give males hiv than vise versa?

i was watching this lifetime movie called girl positive and the girl was telling her boyfriend that it would be harder for girls to give guys hiv...is that true??

hahaha i saw that too & thought the same thing & i ended up looking into it. yes its true.the girls parts are open& his aprts are closed so its harder for a girl to give it to a guy.

no this is not true. the virus can be given to either partner. people who are infected can reinfect each other with a different strain of the virus regardless of sex.

Yes, almost half the chance as male to female.

Lol, yeh I saw that movie. I think it is true, why would they say it in the movie if it wasnt? Research it on Google if you want to be totally sure.

yes, girls are more likely to recieve hiv from a may when he ejaculated in to her. a man is less likely because it has to get inside his penis, but it is still possible

thats the rumor but there are no scientific tests to prove the theory and safe sex is best in any event espescailly nowdays

think about it this way. A girl has a large opening that you fill with fluid. A boy has a small hole that ejects fluid but doesn't really fill up. If it helps for a visual, put a cup and a water bottle on the ground and run a water hose over both, see which gets more water. It's more physics related. But on that note, there are several cases of female to male transmission and any open cut increases the risk. And that damn virus is very small so........don't risk it.

in reality....

Because of the "plumbing" of a women, by that i mean, the inner "resevoir" shape of the vagina, and membranes thereof, it has been proven in studies that not only is it easier for a girl to get it from a guy, than a guy to get it from a girl.

On a girl, her whole inner lining is exposed and capable of tranmission, On a male, only the inner lining of the hole in his penis is susceptable for HIV transmission. This does NOT mean that a guy getting it from a girl is rare, because it quite common. Again, the open door is "unprotected" sex.

Also it has been proven in clinical trials, in women, due to thier difference of gentics, HIV is more likely to accelerate faster (progress) to AIDS, also be noted in the study they also learned that a women has much more reported medicenal side affects, and treatment complications ( resistance to meds, etc)

In america today there are 50 new infections per day, 50% of those are women 18-24....and thats just thier best guess!!

Women are more likely to get HIV for several biological reasons.

* There is a more exposed surface area in the female genitals (sex organs) than in the male genitals.
* There are higher levels of HIV in semen than in vaginal fluids.
* More semen is exchanged during sex than vaginal fluids.
* Women often have untreated STDs, which makes them more likely to get HIV.

Many HIV positive women with negative partners worry about giving HIV to their partner(s). While research shows that men give HIV more easily than women give the virus, women can still pass HIV to uninfected partners 鈥?both male and female 鈥?through sex. This is because HIV is in blood (including menstrual blood), vaginal fluids, and in cells in the vaginal and anal walls.

HIV levels in vaginal fluids also increase a lot in the presence of vaginal yeast infections and STDs. Swelling of the vagina, a common symptom of such infections, causes tiny scrapes and cuts on the delicate skin of the vaginal area that can hide HIV. HIV levels can also increase temporarily after getting treatment for some of these conditions.

In short, the surest way to avoid passing any STDs, including HIV, is to not have sex. There is no way to know when you are more or less likely to give HIV to your partner(s). Exposure to vaginal fluids with high levels of HIV increases the risk of passing the virus. The risk increases even more when your partner has an infection or inflammation.

If you do have sex, use a latex condom every time.

Also, younger women are more vulnerable to HIV infection because their vaginal walls and its membranes are not fully developed which can lead to rips & tears more easily, giving HIV a path to transmission.

If you have intercourse, be sure to use a latex condom each & everytime, especially if you don't know the status of your partner. And remember, you cannot tell if someone is HIV-positive by just looking at them. Also keep in mind that 1 out of 4 persons infected with HIV don't know they are infected.

Be responsible with your sexual health & well-being... it's your duty.

I saw the movie too and wondered about that. I am getting tested Wednesday. I'm scared : ( Jennie Garth was really good in that movie though.
