Is it possible to have an HIV negative baby if the mother is positive?

Is it possible to have an HIV negative baby if the mother is positive?

yes there is a high likelihood that an HIV positive mother can indeed have a HIV negative baby if the mother follows strict guidelines and parameters set by her ID and OBGYN doctors. For more information on this topic and your other question please check out sites like poz.com, aidsmeds.com, thebody.com and inspot.org.

NO .NOT VERY LIKELY.after seeing your other questions i wonder do you have HIV.if so should not have a child.if you are not then you should not have sex with an HIV person

Yes. During pregnancy the mother's blood does not mix with the child's. But there is risk and the birth has to be carefully monitored.

to "no name" below; sorry, but the placenta acts as a very efficient filter. The blood supply for the fetus starts at the placenta.
"lacey" thanks I had forgotten about the neccessity for a c-section.

Yes it is possible. The uterus protects the unborn child from infections. However, it will be necessary to have a c-section and the mother can not breast feed. Babies normally are infected during vaginal birth and in the process of breast feeding.

Yes

The child becomes HIV+ during the actual birthing process where contaminated blood from the mother enters the eyes or a mucus membrane in the infant. But, yes, not all infants are HIV+ from HIV+ mothers.

no.because the virus would be able to pass thru the placenta.from the mother to her baby.

yes, but there is a good chance the baby will be positive too.

Yes you can . the mother and baby do not share the same blood. the fetus has its own blood supply. thats why you have 40% more blood supply when your pregnant it is possiblethough during delivery it would be possible for the baby to contract it if there is mother fetus blood exchange

Yes.But if you are HIV positive.you can avoid passing it to her by taking a medication called Zidovudine and by caesarian section during childbirth. The chances of a baby acquiring HIV is 15% if the mother is positive.I dont want to speculate or be judgemental, but you sound as though you are worried that you could be HIV positive. The only way is to check with a doctor.Nowadays with better HIV medication, people with the condition live longer and a better quality life than in the past.

no but i am doing a debate at this point and it most likly be passed to the baby but i just read a story about a baby that was born with hiv and she just graduated from college so sometimes they can live a fufilling life until they get the AIDS disease and then you probably no the stages. after i i wrote this i found a sight. That talked about medication during pregnancy that would prevent the baby from HIV.

Yes it is, the chances of the baby being born with HIV is 25% but it can be lowered to even 8% if the mother is taking HIV mendication.
But breast milk is one of the body fluids that contains the HIV virus. But since mothers are not tested for HIV soon as they are found out to be pregnant there isn't really a chance she could pass it on unknownly through breast feeding either.
