When can a person get tested for hiv and get positive results;how long before it would show?

If you mean how long before they look like they have AIDS, it depends on many factors. It could be a year, or it could be 10 or more years.

You need to wait at least 3 months after you think you were exposed as it will take that long for your body to start producing antibodies. Then you need to go back at 3 month intervals to get re-tested until you've been tested for a yr. If you're still testing negative I think you are then considered "clean." Good luck hope this helps!

There is a six month window for HIV tests. This means if you think you have been exposed to the HIV Virus in the last six months the virus may not be present on tests even though it is in your body.
Getting tested after this six month period will give you a reliable teast result
