HIV is a serious disease. IT KILLS! It is a death you would wish on anyone if you have ever seen someone die from it. I have and it is not a pretty site.

nothing wrong with doing it at 23, still young, no biggie. But if you do not use any contraceptives, then yes, you may get HIV. Just be sure to know if the guy you're with sleeps around. Be safe!

Is sex okay or being HIV+ okay? Sex can be okay, it's up to the individual and what their standards are. But I don't imagine having HIV is okay....I'm confused.

a 13 yr old engaging in unprotected sex is just as much at risk of contracting HIV as a 23 yr. old or even a 45 yr old. Wrap it before you tap it and know something about your partners. Can't do those late night all-comer orgies anymore.

Yes you can get aids if you don麓t wear a condom, if you have a monogamy relationship and you trust your partner you can both make a HIV test and if it is negative than you can do it without a condom, but be sure that there are no other women or men between you both.

Yeah, I agree with jacemo. Sex is nothing to be toyed with. It can kill you and you should not have unprotected sex with anyone whose HIV status is unknown or that you don't think will make a good daddy.

No, having sex at your age isn't wrong in any way; having UNPROTECTED sex is wrong, no matter your age. Doing so can expose you to contract a STD [including HIV] at any age.

Sex at what age is really an independent choice. If you are not using protection, then yes you can REALLY acquire HIV. To protect yourself make use of condoms and be sure to follow instructions on the label. It would be very helpful that you and your partner are faithful to each other. Well, you are over 18 so its not illegal. The big question here is a more moral one... as to whether pre-marital sex is okay. Nobody can answer that for you, because its something you have to decide for yourself based on your individual and family values.

Regarding HIV: having unprotected sex with a partner can put you at risk for whatever they are carrying, be it HIV, Hepatitis (neither of which there are cures for), Clamydia, Genital Herpes, Syphillis, Gohnorrea, Gential Warts (which can lead to cervical cancer) and probably a few other things I haven't mentioned here. All these STD's can be easily cured with antibiotics, but left untreated long term can cause brain damage, blindness, sterility, and even death. They are all detected by a simple blood test, which can usually be obtained free at your local health department. Some STD's do not show positive immediately so if someone ever has unprotected sex and is in doubt as to their health status, they should be tested about a month or so after the initial test.

Can't afford condoms? Your local health department will GIVE you more than you would probably use, but you also have to realize that although relatively rare, condoms can fail (tear or break) so you have to be careful there.

Having sex is quite a big deal and me personally would not recommend the casual fling and would only consider sex if I had a strong committment to my partner, AND both of you were tested for all STD's. It's cheap, easy, and there is NO excuse not to. Clinic staff will be very supportive and non-judgemental. It is their job to educate you so realize that with any testing, you will receive some 'counseling' on STD's too.

You can be HIV Positive or get AIDS at any age. Among other things, Herpes is also at epidemic levels. To be frank, if you're going to do it, protect yourself at all times. Don't let a guy talk you into not being protected. Take time to see that he's tested before you have sex. GET PROFF. I know that all this does not sound "romantic" but the romance can wait until after you take care of business. Especially when you talk about deeper sexual acts like oral sex. You want to make sure the person is clean and test results will offer you a guarantee. I know people who have gotten both, and some of them are doctors, lawyers etc. I was shocked and so were they because they were dating doctors and lawyers. It just goes to show you, you can't just LOOK at someone and tell what's going on. If the other person does not want to go through any of this to have you, tell them to step on. I don't care how good looking they are or how much money they have. Nothing is worth walking away with AIDS.

You can get infected with HIV from anyone who's infected, even if they don't look sick and even if they haven't tested HIV-positive yet. Getting a transfusion of infected blood used to be a way people got AIDS, but now the blood supply is screened very carefully and the risk is extremely low.

There are no documented cases of HIV being transmitted by tears or saliva, but it is possible to be infected with HIV through oral sex or in rare cases through deep kissing, especially if you have open sores in your mouth or bleeding gums.
