What precautions should i take if i am living with an hiv positive person? Depends on what the living situation is. If you're just room mates then there's nothing to worry about because then of course you'd have your own personal stuff, razors, towels etc. not that you could contract HIV off of it. But if you are sexually involved CONDOMS are a must. JUST MAKE SURE IF THEY CUT THEMSELVES U DONT HAVE ANY OPEN WOUNDS As long as none of your open cuts and sores come in contact with the infected blood of the HIV positive person, you will be fine. Unless you are having unprotected sex with this person, you have nothing to worry about. shaking hands and hugging is ok but no sex without condoms.u r safe even if u smooch and he doesnt have any cuts in his mouth.enjoy n play safe. use a condom One take upstairs the other take downstairs. communicate thru walkie talkies. invest in a biological hazard suit and wear at all times whilst at home. you should not insert her or him by knowing his weakness.you should react with them commonly.I THINK YOU KNOW ALL THE SYMPTOMS.so i need not to tell.nothing will happen by living with her/him.BE COOL.......... I used to work in a facility with a HIV person, basicly you only have to worry about blood and urine, they say you would have to drink GALLONS of a HIV positive persons saliva to worry about contacting it off of them in that matter, the best thing you can do in EDUCATE the person with HIV, if they bleed teach them the best ways to clean it up so the virus isnt spread, expecally with urine, because its hard to see with the naked eye, keep a arosal can of Lysol in every bathroom and kitchen, so if any biomatter is on a surface it can be wiped up and sprayed, there are other things you can buy to kill off the virus but lysol works just as well, you your self can clean up the mess if you have to (lets say he or she is throwing up) but definitally invest a few dollors and buy a box of latex gloves! I would use them for cleaning in the bathroom also, if you have a hang nail that can be a port into your body for the virus, other then getting those two things and using them, i cant think of to much more, other then that you should be fine, if by chance you get his or her blood, urine or anything like that on you IMMEDIITALLY clean with rubbing alchoal... other then that your set and good to go, it will be a few adjustments yes, but at least you know your house will be as sterile as possible :) Don't share razors or toothbrushes, and if you're having sex wear a condom. There's virtually no risk in normal day to day living but clean your toilet frequently with bleach, and always wear latex gloves if you're cleaning up any body fluid. |

But I would make sure my children were aware of first aid issues, like not touching their friends without gloves if they got hurt & bled.
