I have been living with my mum, we discovered that she is HIV positive. is there any harm in sharing house?

utensils? the washroom and any other households?is there harm in sitting next to her?

HIV can be transmitted amoung other root of infecction and mostly by blood to blood contact and body fluids, which you
must try to avoid by all means.

of corse not, no harm, only if she gets a pint of her blood and pours it over you, then worry, but theres nothing to worry about you cant contract hiv through kissing or sharing utensils, im sorry bout your mum too. but with todays meds shell live a long long time

no dont worry about a thing. the most common way to transmit it is through sexual interactions which you wont have to worry about with your mom. it cant be transmitted through saliva so dont worry about utensils and htings like htat. if she starts bleeding on anything like a knife from a minor cut just avoid getting the blood on you because if you have an open wound hten you might get the disease.

Although the virus cannot live outside of a person and can only be passed thru bodily fluids, I would still make sure that you clean your bathrooms, kitchens, etc. with bleach. I would not share any utensils that she has put into her mouth or has touched any other bodily fluids of hers. If you are assisting your mother with anything, you might want to buy a box of those rubbery gloves they use in doctor's offices especially if you should cut yourself, etc. That is the real reason hospitals, doctors offices and all medical personnel are made to wear them so they do not come in contact with the HIV virus. There is no harm in sitting next to them. In fact, she will need a lot of your support. You can hug her and even kiss her as long as it is not on her mouth.

The only sensible way to get an answer to this is to ask the doctor or counsellor in the HIV/Aids clinic.

HIV is spread through body fluids. That is any body fluid. Tears are known to be one way. Whilst they are not too sure about saliva itself it certainly often carries small amounts of blood from sources in the mouth like gums, blood blisters and the like and blood is a main carrier.

To survive the organism needs to warm and moist so the only time utensils are likely to be a risk is if your mother put a spoon in her mouth and then into yours.

But I say again to you. Do not rely on answers here. HIV is like a loaded gun. Treated safely there is little risk. Bad advice here could put you at risk.

Both you and your mother must get to know what risks there are and how to handle them so you can both learn to live with this in reasonable comfort.

Get the answer from a professional in their field.

Just to add, please do not share the same towels, shaver, toothbrush, toothpaste (just in case) with her. Avoid contact with her blood. Wash her utensils thoroughly, just to be doubly sure. HIV will not spread through air.
