Has anyone close to you ever told you they are HIV positive? |
How did you feel and how did you react? I've had two good friends in the last year tell me they were positive. I've found that no matter what you're feeling the best thing to do is just listen. I was very sad and upset and empathetic but HIV isn't the AIDS of 20 yrs ago. The treatment and new cocktails are so amazing and they are making more advances every day. So tell them you love them and be there for them. Remind them every day that life is precious and they are not dying from this disease but rather living with it. yes my uncle he has now passed away now god bless him. i was more upset than anything else. my best freind in high school found out she had HIV yes my uncle told me...he is a year younger than me and at the time when he got it he was only 17 years old...his babys mama gave it to him she was 14 at the time when she got it....i was sooooo shocked its one of those situations where you just dont know what to say...he had accepted it by then but at first he said he wanted to kill himself..and he just kept telling me no matter how in love i am to always use protection!! No , but my co league has hepatitis c. I advised him Dos and Donts a good friend of mine, liberace, told me he had it. he was already old so no biggie. he died. This is weird cause just a couple of months ago I found out by accident that a cousin of mine has AIDS. I work at a hospital, and one day Im doing paperwork, and I came across his info. I freaked out. I don't know who knows. The man is like almost 40 and still hasn't come out about his sexuality. I just felt bad that I found out. I had an uncle that had it and then it turned into full blown aids.I felt really sorry for him.He went through absolute hell before he finally passed away. |
