If you are, or if you were, HIV positive, would you announce it or would it be on a need to know basis? |
This is for every human out there regardless of orientation. Aside: If you were is another way of saying imagine. You can keep it private but by law you must tell people who are at risk of exposure through sexual contact. If you have sex with someone and don't tell them and they contract HIV you can be liable for manslaughter. Its no ones business unless you thinking about having sexual relations with them. Honestly,I don't even want to entertain the thought. If you are, or if you were???? I didn't know there was a cure yet.... Need to know basis. Definitely.....Need to know basis. with all the prejudice that comes along with it, offcourse on a need to know basis. I wouldn't announce it to the world like at the grocery store or something like that, but I would definitely tell my friends and family because I would want their support. "need to know" basis only - too risky otherwise If i were HIV+ I would only disclose it on a need to know basis. I am asthmatic, and my doctor knows as well as friends and family. The only difference with HIV is to also let a person possibly at risk for infection know (such as a sexual partner). It is definitely on a need to know basis. I would tell my family, as I'd expect them to tell me about their health status (I think it's just not right to keep it from the ones that love and care about you), and obviously my bf (if I had one). I don't see why there would be a need for me to announce it to everyone. That would be none of their beeswax. :P I feel that is need to be devulged to family and close friends for their support and to any sexual partners. Other than that it shoulde be on a 'Need to know' basis. Why would I unless it were relevant? I don't go around announcing the content of the rest of my medical chart. Of course if other people get involved, that's entirely different. If you're jeopardizing other people's well being by not telling them, of course you should tell them. |
