What if i got HIV positive result? Could I be terminated from my job?

Now i'm hestitate to take an HIV test (but at the same time i want to know my status) because of my career. I 'm a foreigner in sg and I'm worry that my job will be terminated if i got HIV positive result. I don't need to submit any medical report at this moment. I just want to take test because i had sex without condom one month before.
Please advise me.

It is illegal to be fired due to a health condition. HIPPA laws prevent you from having to even tell your employer. It's your business, not theirs. If you're worried you need to get tested, the earlier you find out the better off you are. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do something due to your HIV status!

Your HIV status can't get you fired from a job. That's illegal & it's discrimination. HIPPA wouldn't allow it as well. Furthermore, unless they require HIV testing with the regular health checkups that they may ask for then I wouldn't submit the test to them - IF I was that worried I might be fired.

Furthermore, use protection!!! Aside from HIV there are many other scary things out there you can catch..

Have the test done for your own peace of mind and those whom your share your sex life with. No, if you are in the US you cannot be fired; if you do get fired you'll have one heck of a law suit.

As others have said, this info is between you and your doctor, not people you work with, it's no one's business but your own.

It only takes one time. Whoever allowed to you engage in sexual activity and didn't encourage you to use a condom concerns me. How many others could he/she be with that didn't use protection? Hopefully this was a wake up call for you use something next time- certainly your partners.

I would contact your state health department, planned parenthood, or adagio and make an appointment to get checked out for HIV and all other STDS. That is your personal information and although wherever you go will be required to report to the state if you do have HIV, for the sake of you previous partners who could have contracted it from you, they can not report it to you work place. And if your work place fired you for that, you could sue them for discrimination. Nothing should keep you from having a normal life and job with or without HIV. The only other problem might be health insurance. If you don't have insurance now it will be very hard to get insurance if you did have HIV.

I don't know what sg stands for but if your not a cook or a
food handler you cant lose your job in tie United States.
Get checked for your sake so you don't pass it on to some
one else.
