Can an HIV positive man have a child with a HIV negative woman?

Hey peeps. I live in NYC...I was wondering if anyone has any information on men who are HIV positive can have a child with an HIV negative women...The only thing that comes to mind is....going to a sperm bank and taking my own donor..I've heard that HIV is in semen (Not Sperm Cells). My boyfriend is willing to see "if" we can...lol..his son said he'll be the donor if his father (my bf) can't get me pregnant....so sweet of him...any suggestions?

I'm not saying that I want to be HIV +... If we can great if not..lol..like I said..his son is willing to donate his sperm to me at a local sperm bank...lol...

It is a possibility you can catch HIV and your baby could be born with HIV. Try an anonymous donor or even a close friend.

I find a HIV blog and community online place. http://www.positivesingles.com...
People are enthusiastic to answer every question. Maybe you can ask there. Report It

Actually you can have a process called Sperm washing, at which they take the sperm and remove the HIV virus, and then would inject that into yourself....I found an article on it so I know....But the only thing it said is that its an expensive procedure and Report It

I'm not a doctor, but it sounds to me like a bad idea, unless you wan't HIV too.

It sounds like a bad idea to try to have a child with a man who is positive for the aids virus. Its dangerous, and if you didnt conceive it would probably limit the childs life when it is born. Go to a donor and do it the safe way, dont spread the virus.

no not safe because you can pass it on to your babydont take any chances like that

no not possible HIV is transmitted through bodily secretions such as sperm and blood, you can't get HIV from saliva you would have to ingest a huge amount of it for that to happen. So my answer to this is no I wouldn't suggest it

My goodness people, she's not talking about getting knocked up the old fashioned way!!

It can be done. You can do IUI (intrauterine insemination), in which case his sperm will go through a "wash" process, which takes it out of the seminal fluid. Those sperm are then injected into your tube during ovulation.

The baby will NOT be born w/ HIV b/c YOU are not the one who is positive, and his sperm cells don't carry the virus. You can have a vaginal birth too.

I won't bring up the moral and ethical implications, that's not what you're asking about...

Yes they can and they woman would problably get it but not the baby.

Well, here's the reality of it. An HIV person is likely to not only infect their partner, but pass it to the child. You'd be best off to go with a donor - or take the son up on a donation- and have it done in vitro in a doctor's office. (Don't go have sex with the son! LOL)

so if it turns out to be that you cannot have children with your boyfriend.. your going to let your boyfriends son pony up his sperm... im sensing something is a little wrong here.. if your going to go to the sperm bank anyways.. pick someone who doesnt have the same gene pool.. if the son gives the sperm. this child is going to be confused on who to call dad.. and your boyfriend will be a dad and grandpa all at the same time.. take some time to really think about that situation lmao

basically there is a 50/50 chance of you passing the virus on to the baby.. which usually ends in cesarean section to minimize that amount of blood transferred to the baby as via vaginal birth..

if your worried about virus transmission to the baby.. have the sperm tested and get a surrogate..

Yes. See a medical professional.
