HIV Positive Fluids?

1) Is it possible/likely to spread HIV by squirting fluids into the mouth of your partner?

2) Would you eat HIV positive fluids from your partner? What if you didn't know that he/she was positive?

If by fluids you are referring to semen, blood, vaginal fluids, or breast milk then the answer to the first question is: YES, it is possible, but not necessarily "likely". The risks of transmission would also be affected by the viral load (amount of HIV in the person's genital secretions/blood/breastmilk), and the risk would be elevated, but still not necessarily considered High risk, if there were any trauma to the oral cavity of the receiver. cuts, burns, other STI infections in the mouth, recent major dental work etc. But practically all activities involving the oral cavity for HIV transmission are considered low risk...meaning it is theoretically possible for transmission to occur, there have been reported cases of transmission occuring from these activities, but nowhere near the numbers of case reports from unprotected vaginal and anal sex (high risk activities). I know of several people who were infected by performing oral sex and taking genital secretions into the mouth, though all of them had obvious trauma to the skin of the mouth.

As for the 2nd question, the level of risk people choose to take is up to them (I acknowledge that in many cases people are forced to take risks due to social determinants of health factors).
We all take risks in our lives, some calculated, some not. And anytime you take someone else's genital secretions into the mouth you are placing yourself at risk for a variety of STIs, including HIV. I wish that more people were properly educated with the correct information about STI transmission so they were making informed decisions. Unfortunately, schools are failing miserably in this regard, and many parents are too misinformed themselves to provide accurate info.
Sorry, got off on a tangent.
Take care

1. yes ...if they are HIV positive this is how the virus is spread

2. NO i never would even not knowing....esp in this day and age...where sex kills...that's disgusting

Well, it is possible but your mouth is a really bad environment for the HIV virus to live in...the enzymes in your saliva would probably break it down.

There have been a few reported cases of getting HIV from oral sex though (it's rare though) but it's best to play it safe.

Personally I wouldn't consider eating any HIV positive fluids...it's just not worth the risk..and that's why you should always ask your partner and get tested before you do anything.

The body fluids that can be exchanged that would contain the virus if the partner were HIV+ are, blood, semen, vaginal fluid and breast milk.

If an uninfected partner got one of these fluids in his/hers mouth, there is always a slight chance of infection, but it is not a great chance. Unlike unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse where a fluid containing HIV could live for up to 5 days, the mouth holds the fluid a very short period of time, you spit it out or swallow, IF you swallow the acid in the stomach will kill the HIV and unless you has a mouth full of sores or a STD of the throat- there would be no place for the virus to "connect" to infect you.

Are you HIV possitive?
