Prevention of HIV/STDS/AIDS?

Okay so in school my sex ed teacher taught us that condoms and the pill and other birth control methods don't prevent HIV/STDS/AIDS. I was watching this movie though, and it said that birth control methods do. I am confused and want to know what does prevent HIV/STDS/AIDS. And please no mean answers.

to prevent HIV and other STDs the best thing you can do is use a condom. Just using birth control will NOT help, nor will spermacide, IUDs or other methods (though they are good for preventing pregnancy)...

your teacher is flat out wrong though if she said condoms dont help. they have been proven to DRASTICALLY reduce the transmission of all STDs...what she might have meant is that they cant ELIMINATE the risk of STDs (they are 99% effective, but theres still that 1% chance even if they dont break)...

if she really did say that they dont help at all you might want to complain to someone as either she doesnt know what shes talking about or your schools cirriculum is just out to lunch.

actually birth control DOES NOT protect you from any std. you can get std's like genital warts and herpes even tho you use a condom, because of the simple fact that you can got it through skin contact and the condom only covers the penis and not the base and if the male is infected in that area it's very likely a female will get symptoms on the vaginal lips, if you are having sex you need to get std tests routinely or reamain abstinant

Birth Control Pills help prevent pregnancy, but they do NOT protect you against STDs. Condoms are very effective in prevention of STDs, but the only way to guarantee that you will not get an STD is to not have sex.

Try to use condom or Try to don't have sex with anybody specially to those who have a disease

The only 100% method of preventing HIV, STD's, and AIDs alltogether is Abstinence.

Using condom is a good prevention method for STDs.

no method is 100% I think that is what your teacher was saying. There is a small chance of getting an STI including HIV even if you use a condom.

However, latex condoms are something like 99% effective at preventing pregnancy and STD's... Those are pretty good odds, the only thing better would to be not to have sex.
