Has anyone ever gone to Zimbabwe to help in Malaria prevention and the spread of HIV?

I have an opportunity to spend 3 months next summer there. Work has approved a sabbatical if I choose to take it. I think that it is something that I would always look back on with pride but it may be extremely hard to do.

I have about 2 months to think about it.

I need opinions and thoughts and experience would be appreciated.

yeah, the "no" answer is a big help

I have a friend who went to Uganda for the same type of thing and she said it was brilliant and life-changing. If I had such an opportunity, I don't know if I'd be brave enough to do it, but you have my full support and encouragement, Mistress Marla.

no

I am in the process of planning a trip to Darfur with a friend who has been twice to work in AIDS orphanages--he says it is a very worthwhile and lifechanging experience to help the little ones.

Thats very admirable and awesome if a person decides to do it.
It'll take guts and substance to pull off. but thats your decision.
But let me ask you this....

Do you want to help or look back in pride?

go ahead the trip if you have not left the US before will show you what is going on in Africa, Zimbabwe is having alot of problems more so than most of Africa have fun but remember life is cheap out here if something bad happens......

No...but after college...

I spent six months in Botswana teaching English...

(The Peace Corp. would accept anyone back then...)

If you can't read...ya' can't help with the AIDS problem...does that count? Singing..."He's got jungle fever...he's got jungle fever..."

If you are white, you are not allowed into Zimbabwe

You would be giving a gift of help. You would receive in return a rewarding experience. Most people never have this opportunity, or pass it up.

It is scary though. Strange place. Strange diseases.

I reckon it is all worth it. It'll be life-changing, in a good way. And you'll score big karma points.

No
Why bother, why not let NATURE take its course
the strong will survive and they will adapt or they will die
