When can a person check there viral load or cd4 or white blood cells for hiv? please help?????????????????????

SOON AFTER CONTRACDTING HIV DO ANY CELLS OR ANYTHING BECOME INFLAMMED THAT WILL SHOW THE DOCTORS A CHANGE IN BLOOD BECAUSE I GOT MY BLOOD CHECKED AND I THEY SAID I DIDNT HAVE ANYTHING BUT WHEN I M EXPERIENCING SYMPTOMS

It depends on how long ago your exposure to HIV was. Most people reccomend testing at 1 and 3 months after the exposure. A viral load is not considered a diagnostic test for HIV, and most doctors won't perform that test on someone who does not have a record of testing HIV positive. Everyone, regardless of their status, has CD4 cells, so that test wouldn't tell you anything. If it was really low, it may prompt more testing for a variety of conditions. I think you should go back to your Dr. and tell him or her exactly what symptoms you are having, because if it's not HIV it may be something else.

Depending on the type of test, it can take 3-6 months after exposure to the virus for a person to test positive. The first test that's usually done is a test to detect antibodies to the virus. (When your body is fighting an infection, it produces antibodies.) This can be done by blood test, or by using a swab to test cheek cells for the antibodies. (The virus itself does not appear in saliva.) The viral load test and the cd4 count test are usually not done unless the initial tests for antibodies come back positive, due to the high cost of testing for the virus itself. The good news is that the swab test for antibodies is almost as accurate as a blood test for antibodies.
A person can be infected with HIV for awhile without symptoms. If you believe you may have been exposed to the virus, talk to your doctor. The sooner a person finds out they are HIV+, the sooner they can begin medical monitoring and treatment that can help them stay healthier longer.
