Wierd sick symptoms. Please help!?

I'm trying to figure out if what I have is the flu, a normal cold, or something else altogether. Advice would be appreciated! I'm a 25 year old male (not sure if that's relevant).

Here's what's happened.

Sunday:
Feeling hot/feverish and shivery at the same time begins in the early afternoon and gradually gets worse. By evening I feel pretty bad and tired.

Monday:
Feverish feeling and shivers continue, though not quite as bad. My muscles, especially neck and back, are very sore all day. I still have an appetite but it's significantly smaller than normal. I also had a bad headache all day.

Tuesday:
Spent the entire night both shivering and sweating. I sweat through numerous pairs of clothes and my sheets. Had a very mild cough and sore throat. Felt good most of the day but got a sore abdomen later in the day and the shivers returned. Had difficulty getting my eyes to focus on reading.

Wednesday:
Sweat through the night again, although not as bad. Took my temperature and it was 1 degree below normal.

Thursday (today):
Sweat through the night again, but not as bad. Feel generally pretty good, though a little big out of it. My mouth has felt oddly dry (and slightly numb/sticky) all day even though I had drank plenty of fluids and eaten normally both yesterday and today. This made me scared that it might be HIV, even though I have never engaged in any high-risk behavior (My only risks are unprotected oral sex and heavy making out).

Any clues to what might be going on? It doesn't exactly fit the flu descriptions I've seen online, and it seems strange that I've sweat through the night for three nights.

Thank you...!

Forgot to mention I also had intermittent headaches alternating sides of the head every day since Monday.

It sounds like a virus to me. The symptoms you describe are very common for a virus -- low temperature, headache, etc.

The night sweats are very consistent with mono.

Your doctor can do blood work and tell you for sure what is going on.

smoke marijuana

First of all, you said you were worried about HIV and one of your risks was heavy making out. You can't contract HIV like that unless the person had an open, seeping sore in their mouth or on their lip and you had one too. Bodily fluids have to mix for someone to contract HIV, and spit doesn't count...so you should be ok there.
As for your symptoms, you may have Mono (the kissing disease) or just the flu. You should probably schedule an appointment with your doctor and they'll probably test you for mono, which is done through a simple blood test. It doesn't hurt and you'd have the results in a day or so depending on your doctors office.
Hope you feel better!
Drink lots of fluids and get plenty of rest.
