HIV symptoms time? *urgent please be honest*?

I don't need any lectures or snide remarks so please just answer the questions.

I was recently involved with my partner and a friend, who is admittedly known to sleep around. since i have been ill but not sure if the symptoms could be indicators of HIV

Within a few hours of us having sex (we used protection but not with oral) i started feeling ill, a kind of sickly feelin in my through and with swollen glans and now it hurts to eat/drink, could this be HIV or just a viral infection.

not exactly sure of the timing between the risk of exposure and the symptoms starting, all i know is part of my actions put me at risk.

didnt want to put this because it might be too much detail but in response to danny

I took a load from both guys in my mouth and swollowed hence the worry, I'm due my test anyway but im really worrying about if these are early infection symptoms i have heard/read about

So you got your first symptoms hours after the sex? Than you can be 100% sure those symptoms had nothing to do with HIV.

You did unprotected oral sex. Our mouth is a great barrier against a lot of viruses, even hiv. Saliva contains enzymes that make the hiv virus inactive. If you swallowed semen, then the acids in the stomach will destroy it.

There is always a theoretical risk of contracting HIV though oral sex. BUT there has never been a documented case of HIV tranmission that could be attributed to oral sex that was convincing enough.

A study in spain followed more than 200 couples of which one partner was HIV+ and the other HIV-. There were 19000 intances of unprotected oral sex (with and without swallowing semen), and of those 19000 episodes of unprotected oral sex there were ZERO transmissions.

In other words, concerning HIV, oral sex is very low to no risk at all. BUT, always watch out cause there are other STD's that ARE transmitted by oral sex.

I don't think that you would have symptoms just a few hours later. I know the symptoms are vomiting, night sweats, fever, severe diarrhea lasting for about a week. There are other symptoms. It takes 5 months to know if you have it or not. You can go without symptoms for 5 years. See a doctor. But I really don't think symptoms occur in just a few hours. Ask you partner how he is feeling.

Please stop the prediction. Do you think hiv will show up within a hour ? Then we don't need to wait for 3 months to get checked. May be some kind of allergic or anything. Trust me you are fine. Anxiety attack can cause all symptoms of hiv. If you fear about a disease your body will trick and make the symptoms.

Honestly sounds like the flu, which you can get symptoms from within 24 hours of getting it. The flu is easy to get and is as simple as having someone in walmart breathing on you. Best thing to do is get tested, i think you are fine... but it is nice to have ease of mind.

Symptoms of HIV doesnt show up within hours , im sure it doesnt have anything with HIV , and you used protection thats strongly lower the risk of infection , i went trough something similar to yours , i got tested after three month and it was negative .

major symptoms are-10%weight loss
cold for more than 1 month
bed soaking night sweats
generalized presence of kaposi sarcoma or meningitis is enough to determine HIV infection

Honestly, it could be symptoms of anything.

"HIV transmission during oral sex is possible for the person sucking, but is thought to require co-factors such as bleeding gums, a high viral load, throat infections, urethral infections, and is associated with having many partners."

I would say you should be safe, but I can't guarantee it. Just go get tested. And FYI you are not protected from all STDs with the use of a condom. HPV and Herpes can be transmitted from skin to skin contact. Good luck though, try not to worry about it until you know for sure.

*** Well then honestly, it is a possibility. There are many factors in it though, you would have had to had a cut or lesion somewhere in your mouth or throat, and they guys would have to have HIV in the first place. The swollen glands are a sign of HIV, but it could just be virus too. Until you can get tested refrain from ANY sexual contact. Once you get tested you should be retested in 3 months, as sometimes HIV can live dormant for a few months. Hopefully all goes well, I think it will. Good luck again!
