What are the symptoms of HIV/AIDS?

What are the symptoms of HIV/AIDS?

Recurring diarrhea, night sweats, weight loss of over 10 pounds, swollen glands, fever, fatigue, etc.

first of all HIV and AIDS are NOT the same thing, AIDS is the last stage of HIV it is the point where you have all the symptoms and have little or no immune responses to viruses etc.

The symptoms of AIDS are primarily the result of conditions that do not normally develop in individuals with healthy immune systems. Most of these conditions are infections caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites that are normally controlled by the elements of the immune system that HIV damages.

Opportunistic infections are common in people with AIDS.[13] HIV affects nearly every organ system.

HIV
HIV infection has basically four stages: incubation period, acute infection, latency stage and AIDS. The initial incubation period upon infection is asymptomatic and usually lasts between two and four weeks. The second stage, acute infection, which lasts an average of 28 days and can include symptoms such as fever, lymphadenopathy (swollen lymph nodes), pharyngitis (sore throat), rash, myalgia (muscle pain), malaise, and mouth and esophageal sores. The latency stage, which occurs third, shows few or no symptoms and can last anywhere from two weeks to twenty years and beyond. AIDS, the fourth and final stage of HIV infection shows as symptoms of various opportunistic infections.

AIDS
People with AIDS also have an increased risk of developing various cancers such as Kaposi's sarcoma, cervical cancer and cancers of the immune system known as lymphomas. Additionally, people with AIDS often have systemic symptoms of infection like fevers, sweats (particularly at night), swollen glands, chills, weakness, and weight loss.[14][15] The specific opportunistic infections that AIDS patients develop depend in part on the prevalence of these infections in the geographic area in which the patient lives.

HIV attacks your T4 cells and your T4 cells are an important player in the immune system. HIV infection progresses in stages. These stages are based on your symptoms and the amount of the virus in your blood.

Initial stage often develops within a few days of infection, but it may occur several weeks after the person is infected. Symptoms may include: Abdominal cramps, nausea, or vomiting. Diarrhea. Enlarged lymph nodes in the neck, armpits, and groin. Fever. Headache. Muscle aches and joint pain. Skin rash. Sore throat. Weight loss. These first symptoms can range from mild to severe and usually disappear on their own after 2 to 3 weeks.

Chronic stage may take years for HIV symptoms to develop. But even though no symptoms are present, the virus is multiplying in the body during this time. HIV multiplies so quickly that the immune system cannot destroy the virus. After years of fighting HIV, the immune system starts to weaken.

Late stage is when your T4 count drops below 200 this is considered AIDS. This is where opportunistic infections like the common cold can be deadly becuase you body lacks the immune system to fight it off. A person can have HIV and not progress to AIDS as long as the T4 cound is above 200.

There are no symptoms of AIDS-HIV until a later time until you have it for a while. Though when first infected you can ARS. Which is produces from retro virus. This happens 1 month after infection things such as a rash, fever, and more flu like symptoms.

I hope the link will explain symptoms and how the disease acts on the body.
