Are cold sores afflicated with herpes? Cold sore is it contagious?

Does that mean I have herpes or symptoms of herpes? BTW I just got checked and I am STD/HIV negative.

Having cold sores does not mean you have STD or HIV. Although they are both herpes, they are different.

For cold sores (yes, they are contagious since they are bacteria) the good news is that they are weak against cold. So next time you get some cold sores starting to show, use a piece of ice and apply on it. This will hasten the healing process and stop further growth of the sore.

cold sore are caused by the herpes simplex 1 virus. Genital herpes is caused by the herpes simplex 2 virus, technically...but dont let any #1's arround your thing to be safe.
