Coughing, dizziness and nausea...?

I am OCD and I have extreme phobia of HIV. I've been really worried cause I understand that the early symptoms of HIV r flu like symptoms.

I am a virgin. I dont use IV drugs but am always terrified I'll get it from something uncommon and abnormal such as every day contact or someone talking and they spit in my eye or something like that.

Since last night, I have been having a minor cough...if I could use any word to describe it, I would say watery.

I am not couging up anything. It just feels a little itchy back there and someone feels like I have water stuck in my throat or something. I am not coughing much at all though. I have been a little dizzy at night time. I don't know if this is from being tired or something but it only happens at night. And then my nausea. I get nauseous if I do something too quickly or if I even move. But sitting here, I am fine.

I havent been gettin any sleep either. I have been getting from 3 to 6 hours max.

what do y'all think? HIV?

BTW, I always have really bad sinuses!!

I live in Texas. The other day it was like 80 degrees and today it is like 65 or 70 so my allergies/sinuses are always bad.

I always have a pressurized headache around my forehead and the very top part of my head.

My eyes have also been a little watery and have burned a few times...

Please answer truthfully and seriously!

Thanks!!!!

This is not really an HIV issue - its a problem with your thinking. You know the answer to this question - you know its irrational to worry about HIV if you have never done anything to get exposed to it. You are letting your worries affect your thinking, and the thought process should work in the opposite direction. You should worry when you recognize an actual risk, and not think something is a risk just because you are worried.

You can learn to sort this sort this type of issue out with some practice and it will help with the OCD. An effective approach is cognitive behavior therapy.

no u are just being paranoid and a bit of a hypocondriac. that usually happens to me when i'm tired, i get a little dizzy when i stand up. u could just have a bad cold or the flu. drops in tempuratures can cause things like a cold and pressure changes in the weather can cause headaches. get something to help clear up your sinuses and allergies. try getting more sleep and get something to help with the caugh or cold. u will be fine. i don't think its hiv by the way.

There are many symptoms of AIDS not HIV, depend on the disease that the HIV people get.
Yours is a flu symptoms. If you didn't get hard of breathing and high temperature after a few hours than it is just a commonflu.
I guess you already know how HIV transmitted, so it's not good for you and other people especially with HIV if you get a phobia with it.

You dont have HIV but you need to see a dr about your ocd/ anxiety. It cannot be happy living in fear of sickness. There are plenty of medications that can get your ocd under control

I'm paranoid too but if you have not been exposed to any blood then HIV is about the least likely virus for you to have.

You are correct that the innitial symptoms of HIV infection (within about 6 weeks of contact) resemble flu, then there is along latency period, followed by the development of AIDS. But far more often if you have cold or flu symptoms it means you have the cold or the flu.

HIV transmission requires someone's infected T-cells to get to your dendritic cells or T-cells.

T-cells are in blood and some other secretions (but NOT sweat or saliva), and your T-cells and dendritic cells are only vulnerable at some mucus membranes (e.g. under foreskin) and in your blood stream.

Even durring sexual transmission it usually gets in through abrasions rather than straight through mucus membranes.

Unless you have stepped on anyneedles, had unprotected sex, performed surgery with bare hands with cracked skin...

and even if you had that sort of exposure there is still a relatively low chance that the person who's blood you were exposed to actually had HIV.

Be cautious, but not paranoid.

There are some viruses you may actually have whcih could be nasty, measles, flu (think 1918), and a multitude of other things to worry about... look out for a rash.
