WORRIED about HIV.?

I have HSV-1 genitally, not sure how I got it. I've slept with one person being my husband and vise versa. He has no symptoms of HSV-1. However, I've recently developed a rash of some sort on my wrist and palms of my hands, it doesn't itch or anything? I've never have used drugs. Why am I worried about this?

Let's start with the HSV- herpes can be transmitted oral-genital and vice versa. If either of you have had a cold-sore, there's your answer.
You should see your health care provider about the rash. It could be contact dermatitis, or something less common.
Your risk of HIV depends on your habits and practices. If you have only had sex with a virgin (who has never used needles) and you have never use IV drugs- then your risk is Very, Very low. The best thing you can do for yourself is get tested and get that worry off you mind!

Good Luck!

I dont know a lot about HSV 1 or 2 or whatever, but I do know many people have it. I am not sure why you connect a rash on your hands with herpes.
I am suspicious your husband is probably not telling you the truth about past sexual liasons, but then I do not know your husband.
If your worried, go to the doctor and get tested.

You are worried about this because HIV is a non-curable, fatal disease and it is scary!!!

The herpes virus causes fluid filled blisters on the skin, mucus membranes, and genitals.

If you or your husband have had a cold sore or fever blister, then you have some form of the herpes virus. The herpes virus doesn't go away so even if you don't have any sores, you still have and can pass on herpes.

You may have gotten herpes from mouth/genital contact... the herpes virus can be found in semen, vaginal fluid, skin sheddings from the pelvic area, and saliva so there are a lot of ways you can catch it. Herpes can also be passed from mother to child during childbirth.

It is highly unlikely that you or your husband have HIV, especially if don't use drugs and have not had multiple sex partners.

You can usually get anonymous HIV testing done through your local health department or through a place like planned parent hood. It might be reassuring to get tested just so you will be able to put it out of your mind.

A rash on your wrist and palms is not likely caused by HSV or HIV.

Have you started using any new cleaning products, lotion, or soap? Are you wearing any new jewelry? It's most likely that you are having some sort of allergic reaction or skin irritation. Over the counter hydrocortisone cream might be helpful as well as Benadryl pills or cream. If the rash is really itchy, has blisters or open sores, or last more than a couple days, then you should go get it checked out by a doctor.

Good luck to you.
