it attacks and lowers your immune system, allowing diseases and other illnesses to more easily attack your body.
There can be no symptoms for many, many years and if there is they include unexplained weight loss, unexplained tiredness, flu-like symptoms that won't go away...its good to get checked every 6 mos because thats how long the antibodies can take to show up on a test.

When 1st infected you get flu like syptoms that go away then you won't notice much change for yrs hopefully(been 6 yrs for me)The virus attacks the immune system and eventually you will have to go on meds so you don't get any diseases and illnesses.But eventually you get to a point where the pills don't work anymore and you get AIDS and eventually die.I pray for a cure every day.
