Does the symptoms come at once or one by one

Hello People, this isn't for me its for a friend who had a bad experience in hospital, and i am still trying to calm her down. I read somewhere that they don't come one ant a time and it is related to anxiety, but i need more info...thank you very much

It depends some people say like flu, diarrhea etc comes at once and it hppenes severe.....p24 test work within 3 weeks adter that antibody test takes over.

I think that the symptoms come in stages.... and then progress in AIDS

You're talking about the HIV virus that causes AIDS right?

If you do get infected, the only thing you will feel at first is a really bad cold that lasts about a week. You'll feel fine and live many years not knowing how have the virus slowly killing your defense cells.
You start to suffer from AIDS when your White Th2 cells drop past a certain level and can no longer detect infections. After that, you can get sick of anything ranging from Herpes virus type 8 to Tuberculosis which are the real diseases that kill you, not AIDS itself since it's a state of inumnosupression.

There are tests that detect fragments of the virus. However, the cheaper and more commonly used ELISA test can't detect virus parts until about 1 month after you're infected. And just because 1 test comes out negative if you take it just 1 month after infection, it doesn't mean you're clean, it could mean that there hasn't been enough time for the viral parts to be detectable yet. You'd have to get a second test a few months later to be 100% sure.

Fever and/or night sweats
Easy bruising
Bouts of extreme exhaustion
Unexplained body rashes
Appearance of purplish lesions on the skin or inside mouth
Sudden unexplained weight loss
Chronic diarrhea lasting for a month or more

I found with me being HIV positive, there was a sign. It was a cold a flu type sickness I felt that was so bad i never felt it before. I later learned this is called the Seroconversion. This is where your body has detected the hiv virus within you and started making antibodies to fight it. After a few days of not feeling well, I was back to normal not knowing anything. As the disease progresses and your immune system weakens, you may start noticing what they call lesions. This is characteristic of Kaposi's sarcoma. They will look purple in nature. Also there maybe signs of herpes zoster (shingles), herpes simplex, and molluscum contagiosum-were so common that they sometimes were regarded as informal markers of immune deficiency. If they have any of these symptoms i recommend they see a infectious disease specialist doctor immediately or even go to a emergency room for immediate treatment, as most of the above symptoms are not only signs of being HIV positive, but of having full blown AIDS. And just for the record you are defined of having AIDS if your CD4 (T-cells) hit 200 or lower. You are only hiv positive if your CD-4 cells stay above 200. Even after treatment if your cd-4s went below 200 and you start meds and they shoot back up above 200 you legally are still defind as having AIDS.
