HIV? Why do I worry?

Why do I worry that I have this? I've had once partner, my husband, and he has had one partner myself. I do have HSV-1 genitally, which I have no idea how I got and my husband has no symptoms or ever had anything. I've had 2-3 outbreaks since October. Does that seem strange? What can I do to ease my mind?

Be seen by a doc. I don't think anyone on yahoo answers can ease your mind about this. STD's are serious business.

WORRY MORE

go get tested...cheap testing everywhere

take a test

Get an HIV test done. You can buy a test in most drug stores. It would help you have peace of mind.

Talk to your doctor, or read books, or better yet look on the internet

test

You must've gotten it from your husband or from bacteria that was on his hands during foreplay. But I did hear somewhere that you can get a "herpes" virus from sitting on toilet seats.

I'll add more detail.

Herpes II and I are viral infections spread through direct skin-to-skin contact and sexual contact (oral, anal or vaginal). The main difference between Herpes I and Herpes II is that the Herpes I virus is usually found in the mouth or facial area and the Herpes II virus is usually found in the genital area. In both locations it causes a painful ulcer which can start out as a fluid-filled blister-like lesion.

You can pass herpes even if you don't break out. You either got it from very close sexual contact from someone else (even if you didn't have sex) or from your husband.

The one and only sure thing to do to make yourself stop worrying is to go get tested.
Its just a simple blood test

Well if you have something and you've had only one partner, it is highly likely that he has it. He needs to be tested. Just because there are no symptoms doesn't mean that there is nothing to be concerned about.

Go to a doctor, so you can be sure what it is, otherwise you will still worry. Hope everything its ok. take care.

You really think your husband has only been with you? HSV-1 is not a sign of HIV,but get tested if it will ease your mind. And HSV-1 could have been passed on to your from your mother during pregnancy and birth. And why haven't you talked to a trained medical person? Yahoo answers is not a place to find out medical information.

MAYBE HE CHEATING ?

Anyone who has had unprotected sex should know there is a possibility they contracted HIV, because it is a possibility. Just go get tested, it will show up on a blood test within 3 months, of course symptoms could take 10 years or longer to manifest.
If you have truly only had one sex partner then that is where you got herpes. It is very possible that he is carrying the virus and has no symptoms. While working for a clinic we had one patient that came in with herpes and she had been married for 4 years, the Doc said it is indeed possible that either her or her husband were carrying the virus that long with no symptoms. Get some Valtrex, that is what the Doc prescribes to most of the patients with HSV. The longer you have it the less outbreaks you should have, and I am pretty sure the Valtrex keeps you from having frequent outbreaks.

You need to get tested. The only thing you can really be sure of is that you haven't had other partners - you can really never know what your husband has done. You don't "just get" HSV - you had to contract it from someone who has it. Just because your husband has no symptoms does not mean he's not a carrier. Go to your doctor and get a full STD screening, including HIV.

go get tested it free. just look up www.AIDSHealth.org

Well, not to cause you any extra anxiety...but you should worry. People who are infected with one STD like HSV are more likely to get infected with HIV. You need to think realistically. HSV doesn't appear out of thin air. Did you and your husband get tested before you got married? FYI, many STD's, especially Herpes, don't have symptoms and the virus can be active or dormant. I would recommend that you and your husband go get a FULL STD/HIV screen ASAP. You could be re-infecting eachother, there are variances in STD'S that allow you to be infected with the same STD more than once.
