I was raped about a month ago.. and have really been traumatised by that. I didn鈥檛 talk about it, then just today I learnt that its possible to kill the HIV virus [that is if you have been infected and started the medication within 24 hours after the act) please, help. How soon does the HIV symptoms start to show? And what are the signs? Is it too late me now? HIV can develop anywhere from a few days after you get it, up to 6 months or more. Symptoms include a wide array of things, such as a flu/cold that doesn't seem to go away, meaning it lasts up to two weeks or more, tiredness, pneumonia, and so much more--these can show up at any time. Sometimes, symptoms don't show up at all. so, if you're infected, you may never know. That medication that you talk of, apparently, it has a large chance of killing the infection before it ever takes over your body. But, I believe that you can take the drug as soon as you believe you've been infected, meaning a larger time period then one day. But, no it isn't too late for you. Just, go and talk to a doctor who specializes in HIV and he can help you. Just, remember to get tested in 5 months, since it has already been one month. If it comes up negative, then you are basically in the clear. It is really rare for it take any longer then that for the infection to appear. I'm very sorry for what happened to you, I can't even begin to understand what you are going through, but I just hope that you don't have something else just as bad to add to everything. Good luck. Best thing to do is to see a doctor, who can test for not only the HIV virus, as well as any other sexually transmitted diseases. Doctors can also provide treatment for any of the above. You need to seek counseling and contact a physician immediately. It's highly unlikely you have HIV. Even if you did it wouldn't show up yet and the symptoms will take quite a while to eventuate. if you were rapped you should have seen a doctor.they would have administered any drugs that would stop a potetial disease. they may have. if you didnt go to the doctor you should now. i would imagine that you would not be able to stop anything but they could detect and treat disease as much as possible. they could ease your mind by testing you for certin dieases. HIV does not usually have immediate signs,it can lay dormate in your blood for years, but it would be best to get a handle on it before it turns to AIDS or before you pass it on to sombody you love.please seek help, rape is not a thing to be ignored, talk to someone, report it,you may be saving somone else from the trauma you have experianced. i wish you health and happiness. Unless your dead it's not to late!!As far as HIV gose hun you need tested for alot of things not just HIV.I was raped at 13yrs old and I had to have alot of test done.No disease has no where near the affect of how it afected me mental.Serious depresion and alot of other stuff.I'm now 24yrs old and it's still hard to talk about. When he kissed me it was like I was smothering I don't know if it was the presure he was aplying or the fact that I couldn't breath from crying.I have 3 girls now and a wonderful husband.Who till this day I can't kiss!! I kiss him but the same as I do my mom.Talk to someone see a doctor and if you have the chance lock him up!! You could be geting him of the streets befor your kids get there!! Time heals and reveals everything.GOOD LUCK Please go and see a doctor, it is the only way to ease your mind and get some help. Also, It would be good for you to talk to someone about your ordeal as it won't do you any good to bottle it up, you need to deal with this and the person who did this to you needs to be reported and punished. Don't be frightened or live your life in fear because of someone who has hurt you, be strong and do yourself the justice of standing up for yourself and all women and protect your health while you still can and punish the scum that tried to bring you down. I wish you all the luck in the world. most rapists are virgins who are hunger for sex, so i guess the person shouldnt carry any HIV virus. But you should go see doctor immediately because assumption is not allowed when we are dealing with HIV and other injuries. So you should go to local hospital and do a physical body ckeck, the doctors there will get you a consoler after they make sure you are physically okay. If it traumatised you so and you couldn't talk about it, how come you're writing on Yahoo Answers to an international audience? If what you're saying is true I bet you could have avoided this by wearing a burka like all virtuous followers of the great and mighty Allah do. |
