HIV and liver cirrhosis... Life expectancy? |
My boyfriend(-/+) is HIV positive and has been diagnosed with liver cirrhosis recently. His white blood count is scary low and his dr. told him that he is close to AIDS. He has had symptoms like severe swelling in his abdomen, groin, and legs, vomiting, diarrhea, and sleep loss. He is not the type to ask very many questions and has never taken a proactive approach to his health, so... here I am in the dark, not knowing what to expect. Please help me understand what we are up against Hi brandi h, When i read your Question it sounded just like what I,m going through.I have all the Symptoms you mentioned. I take Lactulose 10GM/15Sol and Spironolact 50MG twice daily. It helps keep the Toxins down and anger under control.I feel for you both because i know just how miserable he is Look up this Address it will help alot best of luck www.liverdoctor.com Hope I was of help up the creek without a paddle Make him comfortable. My daughter in law recently passed away from cirrhosis - she suffered a horrible and painful time before going into a como. I took care of her so my heart goes out to anyone in your position. Plus the added possibility of HIV+. God bless. Without a lot of other information you may not be able to provide, there's no reasonable way to suggest a prognosis. He will most likely experience numerous infections, including pneumonia. I have no idea what his general health is at this time. He may have resigned himself to this. This is a link to just the liver cirrhosis alone. This is a so called 'side effect' of HAART medications and is NOT 'AIDS' related. |
