HIV Quesntons?

i have to do a little research to help out a friend. and i would like to know what the first symptoms are of HIV. and when do these symptoms first appear? please and thank you

About three weeks after exposure there could be some presistent cold, night sweats, east infection that wouldnt go away, slight but consistent fever, swolen glands especially those on the neck, long term diarea, fatigue, weight loss, loss of apetite.

This could go on for about a month, two the most. After this is gone, there might be nothing for years and usually people stay healthy for a few years after becoming hiv poz. The few weeks after exposure symptoms show because that is when the viral load of the hiv virus in the blood is the highest. It is also considered that the person is very contagious at that point.

However, don't be mistaken that it will show on the most commonly used test then.

The Elisa test that tests HIV antibodies present in the blood cant detect them for about 4 weeks the least and 6 months the most. It takes some time until antibodies are formed thus there is a need for a 6 months window from exposure to taking the test in order for the results to be conclusive.

Back to early sypmtoms, you should also know that not everyone gets those imidiate symptoms and a lot that brush them off as a common cold.

I hope this helps!

Best of luck to ya!

the symptoms appear when its too late. if you have any question as to whether or not you may have been infected you must get tested. the earliest symptoms are just like flu. so get tested.

Symptoms for HIV aren't really distinguishable unless you're expecting them. Has your friend engaged in unprotected sex with someone who may have HIV or otherwise exposed to fluids from a person who may have HIV?
You're best bet is to strongly encourage your friend to get tested. They can do is ananymously so they have nothing to fear. But know that if they have recently been exposed, the virus may not be detectable in the blood for up to 6 months.

Please get your friend tested and encourage them to stay safe.

I didn't notice any but they say they are fatigue, flu like symptoms

Symptoms are highly unreliable and can be confused with the common cold or flu. The best bet for figuring out if you have HIV is to test for it 3-6 months after the potential exposure.
