How long does it take a person who's living with Hiv/Aids to get sick? |
whats are the symptoms of Hiv/Aids and what are the side effects, please help. Just so that people are clear, there are many people who have been positive for the last twenty plus years and are NOT on meds. It is possible to survive that long. You just need to look after yourself and make sure you're not doing anything risky and harmful to yourself or others. Positive living, eating the right foods on a regular basis and excercise, not like a strict routine but just make sure you don't become a couch potato. If you get a cold, or flu make sure you get it treated qucikly. Infact any ailment you have just make sure you get it treated and life goes. you get the virus right away, but it does not show up in your blood anywhere from 3-6 months after being initially infected. With the new cocktail drugs and early diagnosis people with HIV/Aids are living longer and the virus becomes a more manageable chronic illness. There are people who believe in holistic medicine and are also long time survivors. There are some individuals who carry a genetic profile that are infected and never show symptoms. The symptoms are flu-like, night sweats, thrush in the mouth, rashes, herpes zoster (chicken pox), neuropathy. Aids symptoms include pneumonia, below 200 cm TCell count, cytomygelavirus infections, severe neuropathy, arthritis, toxoplasmosis (infection of the brain), shingles, MAC (tuberculosis) , wasting syndrome, etc. in other words the body in the stage of AIDS becomes a host for a variety of infections. There are alot of side effects to the protease inhibitors including nausea, headaches, inflammation, loss of appetite. So, how long does it take a person to develop this? Its hard to say because of the meds and the person immune system if the meds are helping then they could be long time survivors 20+ years or if they are neglecting and not taking meds it could be short term. When first infected many PHA's report FLU like symptoms, night sweats & weight loss.I have yet to C anyone survive OVER 30 Yrs After Diagnosis. With healthy eating&,lifestyle& meds, U can expect at least 20 yrs of life.As your cd4 falls your more prone to getting a virus or bacteria infection.Dr's will NOT start HAART treatment untill your CD4"s have fallen to 500 or less. |
