Does having a constant runny nose mean I am HIV positive?

I read many articles claiming that symptoms of HIV could develop within 3 months or six months, not sure though. I have had the runny nose for quite a while and wondering if it is related to being HIV positive.Does anyone know what are the typical symptoms associated with HIV? Anyone with honest and caring answers only! thank you all who respond and god bless.

Unless you've participated in high-risk activities (unprotected sex, sex with strangers, IV drug abuse..etc) I wouldn't worry. You CAN always get tested to 100% rule HIV out, but I wouldn't get into a lather about it.

A constant runny nose could be due to allergies. Even in the winter, there are countless things flying around in the air at any given moment that can make your sinuses go insane. It could also be caused by a long-lived cold virus.

All in all, go to your doctor and express your concerns. He/She will point you in the right direction and order tests if needed.

You may just be allergic to something. The only way to be absolutely sure you don't have HIV is to get tested. Then you won't have to worry about this anymore, you will know either way. Good luck

i have never heard of this being a symptom of HIV. i would get tested if you are concerned. and yes it is true it may take 3 to 6 months for it to develop. or it could take longer. if you think you may have been exposed to HIV i would suggest you get tested often in order to catch the disease early if you do have it. early diagnosis can make a world of difference. good luck and God bless.

Hello, some of the symptoms of hiv are sores on ur body in ur mouth. weak feeling, tired. If all u have is a runny nose no i do not think u have hiv. What u could do is go to planned parent hood and take a test. Good Luck.

Hon, you're more likely to have a sinus infection than the HIV.

"Some people show no signs of infection, or signs may take years to appear. But many people have flu-like symptoms with weeks after being infected."

As for the 3-6 months period you mentioned, I think your confusing symptoms and antibodies. There is a window after you have been infected with the HIV before antibodies will show up in your blood sample, generally thought to be 3-6 months. Symptoms could take years to develop.

If you think there's a chance that you have been infected recently then get tested. Wait three months and get tested again.
