Are there any immidiate symptoms within 72 hours after getting infected with HIV?

Are there any immidiate symptoms within 72 hours after getting infected with HIV?

The only symptoms you would get would mimic those of the flu.
Fatigue, muscle aches, headache, soreness, maybe some cold-like symptoms.

However, many people develop no immediate symptoms at all.
So if you think you may have been exposed, it is a good idea to get tested sometime within the next 3-6 months.

I am not aware of any information that indicates this. I think you must wait 4-6 weeks after possible exposure to be tested. And it might be a good idea NOT to engage in sex w/ or w/o a condom until you know your status.

No symptoms have been known to occur that early that have been correlated to the virus. You must wait at least 90 days and get tested but if it bothers you that much get tested immediately because the incubation period for the disease is immediate.

you could get flew like symtpoms like the first answer said, BUT you don't get them right away (a couple of weeks to months depending on the person) HIV can lay dormant in your system for YEARS. you should get tested 3 months from now if you're paranoid. but its normal to experience HIV paranoia after sex, i've answered about 11 questions asking about the same thing in the past three days.

Usually not. As I have worked with people that have tested HIV+ some seem to remember flu like symptoms "around" the time they became infected. I would recommend a HIV test asap and then once a month for the next three months if you are concerned. The window period for HIV to show up is 90 days (3 months) it will usually show 90% of the time after 30 days, 94-96 after 60 days and 99.6% after 90 days.

People can be infected with HIV and not have any signs for 10-12 years. So a yearly test is also recomended.

72 hours.....no, not likely at all.

The first symptoms of HIV infection that some people (40-90%) experience usually appear 2-6 weeks after infection around the time when the immune system kicks in and starts creating antibodies.

72 hours would be HIGHLY unlikely for it to be related to HIV infection.......

but HIV testing is ALWAYS recommended.
