How long before the symptoms of HIV show up at 23?

So from the age of 23, you have sex with someone who has the infection, how long before it starts to show up?

the "window period" for every one is different...from what i have seen the virus tends to attack your weaker system first...usually blood tests will be able to detect the virus within 6 months...during that time a very common symptom which is the flu has been reported by hiv victims.....

please dont think that since you dont have any symptoms you can have unprotected sex.you can still pass the virus on...

oh i think i need to mention some individuals we call carriers...these persons dont show any symptoms of the virus and look perfectly healthy even if they do not take the medication but they continue to pass on the virus..i hope this helped...

if you think u have it u shud get checked

You will have antibodies in your system that can be tested after 6 weeks. Before then, the virus won't show up on a test. You would start to have symptoms about 3-6 weeks after infection, the symptoms are flu-like so its hard to catch. Check out this webpage: http://www.hivsymptoms.org/hiv-early-sym...
Good luck

Some people have died from HIV within weeks of getting it. Most people go 5 years or more before they show symptoms. Some people have had it all their life, and never shown symptoms.
