Aside from getting tested regularly, are there any noticable symptoms of HIV? |
I get tested regularly, but I was just curious how people come to find out they're HIV positive without testing. Are there common symptoms? Usually not until it develops into AIDS. Sue Johannson said once if you wake up at night and your sheets are soaked in sweat get tested Report It i think its fever and stuff likthat since HIV disables the immune system, most people find out by getting very ill... You get chronic diarrhoea. Prolonged coughing. Rapid weight loss. You acquire all kinds of disease which can not be treated, running stomach. Persistent headache and boils. No. There are no outward, easily visible symptoms specific to HIV. The only way to know if you have HIV is through a test (blood or otherwise) which specifically tests for HIV. When people become infected with HIV, about seventy hours after infection, you have out of control replicating virus, on average about six weeks later your body will start an immune response, it will start producing HIV antibody, in an attempt to control the infection, which it doesn't do very well. During this time about 80% will have a sero-conversion illness, this is an acute infection, which has symptoms very similar to Glandular Fever or Meningitis, you become a very sick bunny. These symptoms can last couple of weeks. May I remind everybody that getting tested on a regular basis is no protection against acquiring HIV. normally not. in fact you could have it in your system up to ten years or more and live a prefectly normal life before becoming ill. That's not to say that you couldn't pass it to your partner during that time. its usually the normal cold symptoms.......Umm do you go UIC-University of Illinois at Chicago? I got some admission qs |
