HIV symptoms are cold/flu like symptoms initially...but then they disappear as one's immune system begins to fight off the HIV. Years down the road, as the HIV silently wins the battle over the immune system, the actual AIDS syptoms appear -- Because the immune sytem is shot and cannot fight off any other diseases...like certain rare cancers (Karposi Sarcoma etc)..other infections.
