Can I get accepted to Johns Hopkins University?

I'm currently in 11th grade @ my high school with a 3.7 GPA w/ honors & AP courses & have an ACT score of 30. I plan on taking 2 SAT subject tests.

I only played JV tennis for 9th and 10th grade & joined 2 clubs during this time. For 11th grade, I'm in 2 clubs (HIV peer educator and honor society), & planning on going to a 3rd one (link leader for freshmen).

I volunteered @ a boys & girls club for 1 year, hospital for 2 years, & I'm currently the computer & projector operator @ my church.

I know that I need to stand out from other applicants, so I have 3 areas of interest: art, science, & politics. I have a large collection of my own anime drawings, I have one science notebook that I made based on Internet research, & I have briefly volunteered for a city councilwoman, congressman, & Hillary Clinton.

Do I have a good chance of getting in JHU? What can I do better to improve my chances? I'm also planning on applying early decision to increase my chances. I'm also a very shy person.

You have an excellent chance. Practice your SATs and try to boost up your GPA (although if you maintain you will be just fine).

The top caliber school want to know you are excited, even passionate, about SOMETHING. Joining clubs or volunteering for a resume is not going to cut it - they want to know what you have learned from the experience, what you taught during the experience, and how it has motivated you to continue with your passion. You may not have a passion yet, but you should be passionate. Passionate to learn, to help, to do whatever it is that interests you.

You have excellent test scores and GPA. Maintain them and you should be fine. But to really stand out, relate your experiences, both academic and extracurricular, to whatever it is that interests you the most.

You should be fine. Just emphasize in your essay (and interview, if you choose to do one - which you should, even if you're shy; it won't hurt you) why you want to go there in a way that makes it clear you've done your research on the school.
