How do you check for STIs?

im 21 and still a virgin, but i've done other things (oral sex) and it just dawned on me that I've never been tested for STI's because my doctor didnt feel like I needed to because I havent had penetration.

But I just got an email from my school informing students that there was an outbreak of chlamydia and we should all get tested.

How do they check for AIDS/HIV, ghonneria (sp), chlamydia, etc.?

they usually take a smear of the genital area - but considering you've never had penetrative sex they won't do that, so i guess they're going to have to do a blood test.

aids/hiv is always a blood test, but they re-check you after 3 months to make sure because sometimes it takes a while for a person to become hiv positive.
