Unprotected sex - High HIV risk?

I'm scared to death. I'm a well informed person and always wear protection. I haven't had many sexual partners, but I only had unprotected sex with one of them - my 1st serious bf - because he got tested in front of me.
I'm sure of all my partners (negative) HIV status... Except the last one. I started dating this guy and he told me he had just ended a 3yr relationship and hasn't been with anyone since. I believed him (stupid me!) and one night we didn't have condoms, so we had unprotected sex. We did this a total of 3/4 times, until I found out he was cheating on me and I broke up with him.
Now comes the worst part: not only he cheated on me, but also on his ex of 3yrs (all the time!), and he even had sex with prostitutes. I'm extremely worried, he told me he was clean, but how can I believe him? I know I have to be tested but I'm really scared.
I know it only takes once get infected, but after 3/4 times, what is my risk? I feel like killing the stupid liar!!!

You are probably o.k. It is not all that easy for a man to get HIV from vaginal intercourse, especially if he has been circumcised.

It is a different story if he has used a dirty needle or been on receiving end of anal sex with an infected person
