Gential herpes type 1... possible HIV?

So my doctor just told me that i tested positive for genital herpes type 1...I have only had one initial outbreak that lasted about 4 days and was quite mild. I tested negative for HIV but i have a feeling that I have it...for anyone who has contracted herpes and HIV what symptoms clued you in that u were actaully HIV positive or rather made you return to the docotrs to get re checked.. Additionally, i have a rash on my kneck that has been there for about 3 weeks maybe more. could this all be realted? additionally, any other general info would be helpful. ***Please do not just copy and past answers from websites, i would like to know from personal experince***

just because u tested posative for hsv-1 doesn't mean that u also have hiv or could get hiv.
i tested + for hsv-1 and 2 but not hiv.
a rash could be razzor burn or a reaction to something, not necisarally hiv. rashes are usually not related to hsv-1. additionally hsv-1 is not related to hiv.

Get another HIV test and let that be your answer.

BTW, the AIDS clinic spaced my tests 30 days apart. Both were negative, as your will probably be.

The rash is probably just that, a rash and not associated with HIV.

I don't think you have HIV. Make sure you get tested regularly and try to minimise the possibility of you getting any STDs and HIV. (Safe sex, no needle sharing, etc)

If you tested negative for HIV, why do you think you have it? Go back in 6 mos and test again. And during those 6 months (and always) - practice safe sex.
